Our Teachers
Debbie Brennan
Debbie’s study of music began with private organ lessons at the age of 9. Her instructor, Jane Crippin, was a great mentor and saw to it that Debbie continued her education as an organ performance major at Ohio University. After college, she began working as a church organist as well as teaching private lessons from her home. In 1978, Debbie met her husband, Matt Brennan, when auditioning to be apart of his classic rock band, Polyphony. Matt and Debbie have co-owned and operated Brennan Music Studio for the past 14 years. Currently, Debbie is also the Music Director at St. Peter’s church in Worthington, Ohio. With their daughter Maddie, they continue the tradition of quality instruction by people who are passionate about music.
Maddie Brennan
As the daughter of Matt and Debra Brennan, Maddie’s passion for music emerged at a young age. She has played the piano her entire life as well as the oboe since the 6 th grade. She graduated with a Music Education degree from Ohio University in 2010 and has been teaching at Brennan Music Studio since early 2011. She is very passionate about teaching as well as growing the Brennan Music Studio into a life long career. She feels very blessed to have such an amazing opportunity to not only work along side her family but in a business that she loves dearly.
Matt Brennan
Growing up as the youngest in a family of seven during the sixties, Matt was exposed to an incredible variety of music. Starting with Big Band and Sinatra, thanks to Mom and Dad, and then, from his older brothers and sisters, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimmy Hendrix, and the Temptations. With all of these influences, Matt soon found his love for the drums and at a very early age started behind the traps, holding rythm for a band with his older brother on guitar. Matt studied at the Koch School of Music and, at the age of 10, won a prestigious IML award along with his brother Mark. He continued to play in bands with his brother throughout his high school and college years. During the mid-seventies, “The Brennan Cosma Band” was one of the top bands in the Cleveland area. In 1978, the brothers formed the progessive rock band, “Polyphony”. This is when Matt met his future wife Debbie who became the keyboard player for the band. In 1985, Matt accepted a management postion for Federal Express which brought the Brennans south to Columbus. He continued with Fedex until 1995 when he left to pursue his passion for music. Matt started teaching, and in 1998, along with his wife Debbie, started Brennan Music Studio.
